Trail Run With Jason
Trail Run Coaching For Every Distance.
I was out for a run on the trail recently, and got to thinking about the trouble I often have believing just how much I can accomplish when I put myself to it. My brain, set free to contemplate that topic while I navigated the twists and turns of the single-track, locked on to the word "underestimate" and wouldn't let go. When I sat down to write this article, I did a quick Google search for a definition, and got back this: "regard (someone) as less capable than they really are."
This simple sentence fragment so elegantly sums up a debilitating mental condition: underestimating yourself. The feeling that, deep down, you simply aren't capable of doing it, whatever "it" is. Running is a perfect demonstration of how much people sell themselves short.
