My Bio

Welcome to my website! I'm Jason: outdoor enthusiast, avid runner, and trail running coach in Chico, California.

My love of the outdoors predates my trail running, and I spent a good portion of my adult life on backpacking, rock climbing, and mountaineering. I am fortunate to have a fantastic local trail system (Bidwell Park) as well as easy access to parts of the Sierra Nevada, Cascade, and Siskiyou mountain ranges to feed my outdoor needs.

While I dabbled in running over the years, I began running seriously in 2009. In the fall of that year I ran my first trail half marathon and began to seriously consider running the marathon distance and beyond. After a failed attempt at my first 50k race in 2010 I went back to the drawing board, fine tuning my training strategy in 2011. I went on to complete my first trail marathon, 50k, and 50 mile races in 2012, leading up to my first 100 mile finish in September of 2013 at the Pine To Palm 100.

My Blog

My love of trail running inspired me to put on my own trail race, and I am currently in the process of becoming a Race Director for the inaugural Rim To Rim Trail Run here in Chico. In order to help other would-be race directors learn through me, I'm narrating my way through the process at my blog: Race To Rim.

The blog also includes more information about yours truly, including supporting charitable causes while running, other races and events I participate in, and the type of gear I love
